Richard Holmes came to Deer Valley in 1979. After being the general manager for SCA Services truck maintenance and manufacturing facility for five years he decided to go into business for himself. He started what was known as Advance Machine and Fabrication in 1985. His sons joined him in 1990. In 2005 they all joined Vince Scott and his son to start what is now known as Advanced Metals.

Advanced Metals is a full line metal service center which at this time employs 35 employees, along with five inside sales employees in the steel sales division.
